What is Vaginal Steaming?

Vaginal steaming has been used for centuries to help clear the uterus post miscarriage. Do not steam when blood is bright red, wait until your bleeding has turned to brown. The combination of herbs works to nourish, tone, heal, bring in fresh oxygenated blood, promote cleansing, and make supple the vaginal and uterine tissues.

The moist heat opens the pores of the tissues it comes into contact with. The water vapor carries the medicinal benefits of the plants, including volatile oils. This is absorbed into the tissues and enters the bloodstream, having a direct healing effect on the reproductive system. Vaginal tissue is one of the most absorbent of the entire female body.

Instructions

  1. Boil water (Fill a large pot halfway full)
  2. When water is boiling mix in the herbs (1 cups of herbs)
  3. Lower to a simmer and allow them to cook for 15-20 minutes
  4. Turn off your burner and let cool for 5 minutes

The idea of a vaginal steam is sitting over the warm herbs, some women use a stool, a chair or a steaming pot specifically for vaginal steams. If you don’t have any of these, find a bowl or mug that is big enough, placing it between your legs in child pose. You may need to wrap a towel around it and wait until the temperature is right for you. Be careful not to burn yourself. Once in child pose or on the stool it is highly recommended to cover up with a shawl or dress and keep yourself warm. Make sure to have socks on your feet and a warm cup of tea after your steam.

To use as a sitz bath follow above instructions and then add herbs to your bath tub. Soaking and sitting in the herbs for 10 minutes and then filling up your tub.
